Do You Need a License to Drive an Ebike?
Each country has its own set of rules for e-bikes. Countries that consider e-bike as bicycles do not require a driver's license. Countries that consider e-bikes as mopeds require a driver's license and also require registration.

Electric bike with throttle speed over 20mph, or pedal assisted speed over 28mph, is considered as a motor vehicle, not an e-bike. Then require a driver's license, as well as registration.
In the UK
E-bikes’ motor power shouldn’t be over 250W and maximum speed can’t over 25km/h. Riders don’t require a driver’s license, but they must be at least 14 years of age.

Belgium divided e-bikes into three different categories.
- Ebikes with 250 watts at 25 km/h are considered safe for all ages
- ELectric Bicycles with 1,000 watts and speeds in excess of 25 km/h are classified as "motorized bicycles". You need to be at least 16 years old to ride such a bicycle. A certificate of competency is also required.
- 4,000W bicycles with speeds exceeding 45 km/h are called "high speed electric bicycles" and are classified as mopeds and subject to their regulations.
You need to be at least 15 years old and wear an ebike helmet. No permit or license plate is required.
